In 2009, a group of women from Northern Kentucky returned from a mission trip to Kenya with a strong desire to do their best to make sure the young girls of this impoverished area had an opportunity to obtain an education if they desired. The result was the formation of Martha Mary and Me Foundation Inc. which had an original mission of offering scholarships and business opportunities to girls and women in 3rd world countries.
Starting with 5 girls in Kenya in 2010, MMMFDN has provided scholarship funds and school supplies consistently until 2020 when COVID put a hold on public education in Kenya for almost two years. MMMFDN is currently supporting two girls with their educational needs. In December 2021, MMMFDN held a fundraising event at The Roost in Latonia, KY and raised enough money to build a home for the girls and their grandmother. This is the first home their grandmother has lived in where she is able to stand upright.
In July 2022, a devastating flood destroyed many parts of Eastern Kentucky. Feeling led to return to her roots to help bear the burden with many family members and friends, the President of Martha Mary and Me Foundation Inc., with the permission of the Board of Directors, established a program called Save His Sheep. Partnering with The Bridge Church in Alexandria, KY and several other nonprofits, she is currently dividing her time between Letcher County, Kentucky and Northern Kentucky raising funds and recruiting volunteers to help restore her hometown and county to a stronger, more vibrant community.
